Hey how long after they sent the deposit did it update on wimr that it was rejected?
Here’s my story.
Santa Barbara bank attempted to deposit my return via direct deposit. The bank account was closed, therefore the deposit was rejected.
Next, Santa Barbara bank mailed the check 2 days later. If you haven’t moved .. that’s it! You’ve received your refund.
Well I moved, the checks are able to be forwarded.
If for any reason the refund check is returned to the bank. The bank sends the funds back to the irs once MONTHLY.
Once the irs receives and processes the check, they mail the refund to whatever address they have in file for you. This can take up to 3 weeks.
What is tbg
@AyV123 Can you provide some context to your question? Where do you see tbg? Is this on your tax return?
Does TPG send the money back to IRS or do they cut a check? How long does it take to receive funds?

You didn't provide any information, so we have to guess a bit. Did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund? And did your bank (or card) refuse a direct deposit from SBTPG's bank (the company that handles that?)
Here's how all that works if you chose that option. Once the IRS releases your refund, your funds go first from the IRS to a temporary account at an intermediary bank where the fees are subtracted. Then that bank sends the rest of your funds to your bank (or card) in a second direct deposit. If that deposit at your bank (or card) fails, it would go back to the intermediary bank, and the company that handles that (SBTPG aka "TPG" aka Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) would send a check to you at the address on your return.
Only in less common circumstances does SBTPG send the funds back to the IRS. That's usually when there's an additional problem, such as if they cannot identify you for some reason, or if your check from SBTPG is returned to them in the mail. I don't know what all the criteria are for them sending it back to the IRS instead of mailing one a paper check, but in most cases where a bounced deposit was incurred, SBTPG mails a check to the address on one's return.
If that's your situation, how long that takes would depend on how fast your bank sends it back to SBTPG's bank, and how long SBTPG's processing and turnaround times are, and then there's the transit time in postal mail. If you need more info, you can phone SBTPG, or log in to their website and perhaps you can monitor the process there.
To log in at SBTPG, choose the taxpayer portal at:

SBTPG also has a phone contact page at the following link. It also shows their business hours. Even when they are closed, you may be able to get automated info about your refund, or you can log in as above.

The bank rejected ours 2/27. The IRS still says they don't have the funds back but the bank says they've sent them. Who knows when we will ever get our money now. I have an ACH trace number and still can't get any help. It's now 3/6. What a joke.
Do you have a phone number for them
You can contact the IRS by following the instructions here.
did you get a 1121 code after
did u get the 1121 code first
@kurtis2121 Code 1121 means that your tax return is being reviewed. The automated system has flagged something as being out of the ordinary, and your return is being queued for review by a human. If your refund was returned to the IRS and a paper check needs issued, this maybe why you are seeing this code. The process takes up to 3 weeks to get the money and two weeks to issue the paper check.
thanks a lot for the response it was rejected march 27 I spoke to the cash app support an they said it exceeded the deposit limit an that my refund was returned to the irs same day it was rejected you think ill have to wait for a human to process the check or can the computer generate an send it to my address
We don't have access to how the IRS processes your check. It will usually take up to 4 weeks to receive your check from the IRS. Here's an FAQ about refund timing. https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions
