Amending is done on Form 1040X. That form should be available for amending 2015 returns mid-February. Also, if your return is accepted, you should not try to amend your return until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund or your payment has cleared.
Amended returns have to be printed and filed by mail. It can take the IRS up to 12 weeks or longer to process them. If you are due a larger refund than on your original return, your amended return should only show the difference and you will receive a separate check for it. If you owe money on your amended return, it will show only the new amount owed, you will have to mail a check with the return.
How to Amend?
Does a 1040X need a 1040X Schedule A or can we use a 1040 Schedule A? IRS Advo c ates are requesting a 1040X Schedule A but I don't have it and can't find it anywhere

The IRS Schedule A is used with an amended tax return if it is required.
It is my nephew's tax return and I did not do his taxes for 2015, and it has to be amended, Do I have to re-do his 1040 for 2015 so I would be able to do the amendment. Also my current computer only has Turbo tax for 2020 and 2021. it doesn't have the 2015 anymore how do I get the 2015 turbo tax?
The 2015 program is no longer available ... you need to either use a local tax pro that still has the 2015 return available or get the forms & instructions from the IRS and manually fill them in.

TurboTax does not support tax year 2015. If he is amending a 2015 tax return for a tax refund, it is to late to file as the 3 years from the due date to file the 2015 amended return has expired on April 15, 2019.
If he has taxes owed on the 2015 amended tax return, it would be wise to seek out a local tax professional who can assist in completing the tax return.
