Tax Transcript/Where’s my refund tool

Hello all! I filed my taxes on January 25th. I was accepted the same day. I claimed the EITC and the other half of my CTC. I already know there was a hold until mid February and that most tax payers who claimed this would have to wait until AT LEAST 3/1 to receive their refund. 

I received letter (5071C) on 2/14/2022 where they asked me to verify my identity. I went on IDMe and did that. 

I tried to access my Where’s my refund tool multiple times over the past couple of weeks and it will sometimes let me log in and up until a couple days ago it was telling me I was entering the wrong information in. 2 days later it let me input the information and it’s showing “we’re sorry you’re refund is taking longer than the  expected time” etc. it has been showing this message for about 3 weeks now. 

I went online and checked out my transcripts (can’t hurt to take a look) and I saw at the very bottom I have code 570 with a date of 3/14/2022. 

Does this mean that they’ve stopped working on my tax return & wont do anything further with it until 3/14/2022? 
Or does this mean they will not update the status of my return until that date?

No, code 570 stands for  "Additional Liability Pending/or Credit Hold". In other words, the IRS has put a hold on your refund to give them time to process your credits and/ or check for other debts.

That doesn't mean they are not working on it. At some point, you will see code 571, which means the hold has been lifted. After that the refund will be processed. 

In the mean time, you may get a letter, if they need more information from you. Please try not to worry about it too much. This happens to a lot of people and most of them get their refund without any problems.
