Still waiting for 2021 refund

When I originally filed my taxes through Turbotax back in 2021 I mistakenly left off the last digit of my account number so my bank rejected the refund. According to the IRS, this money never made it back to them. When I spoke to someone at Turbotax (can't remember how I got a live person because now I can't seem to get one), they told me that they use a company called Green Dot for refunds. The IRS sends the refund to Green Dot.  Turbotax takes their fee out of that money and then Green Dot forwards the remainder to your account. Since my bank rejected the refund, the money went back to Green Dot, and herein lies the problem. There is no way to get a live person at Green Dot. I have sent a certified letter to them. I have emailed them. No response. Now I can't get a live person from Turbotax either.  Since Turbotax uses this bank all the time, why can't they contact them on my behalf since I can't seem to find a way to get a live person? I'm beyond frustrated at this point. Any advice?

TT cannot and will not intervene in this situation because they cannot.   This is between you and the processing bank and as such they have no legal right to help you. 

 

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.
