Would be curious to hear thoughts on the following situation:
Person A and B are a married couple with no dependents but significantly different income. Person A accounts for 80% of the taxable income.
If they were to file MFS, Person A gets a refund of $1,500 and B would have a balance due of $4,000
If the couple files jointly, the refund is $3,800.
How do you split this fairly?

Assuming you love each other and share with each other---work it out without mediation from strangers in a user forum. When the IRS sent your refund it came in both names.
80/20 ?
Or maybe you spend $800 on something for yourselves to enjoy as a couple and each pocket $1500. Having been married for 53 years, I can suggest you will last longer if you do not nickel and dime each other.
