I filed my taxes on 5/17/2021 before the deadline but got rejected on 5/18 after the deadline. I changed it according to the instructions offered by Turbotax which says no errors after I made changes. I efiled it again on 5/18 but got rejected 5 min. later. Then I efiled again and got rejected again, even though Turbotax says there is no errors. did i get rejected because it was rejected initially? or is there anyway to find out the error to correct it? do i have to use mail to file then if I couldn't find the error? I live in NY which requires efile. my state tax was automatically rejected because my federal return was rejected. if I file the federal by mail, what do i with the state? thanks.

Why was the federal tax return rejected?
If rejected for the 2019 AGI then enter a 0 (zero) for the 2019 AGI and e-file the tax returns again.
thanks for your response, and just saw it. it was rejected because my foreign tax credit was not right. I didn't put the right qualified dividend correctly the first time. but after I corrected it and efiled it, although turbotax say is fine with it, I still got rejected.
could it be that there are other errors that turbotax doesn't you?

What is the error code and error message for the last rejection?
where do i find the error code?
in the email, under what happened:
/Return/ReturnData/IRS1116/ForeignTaxCreditSource/USTaxWithheldOnDividendAmt - Data in the return is missing or invalid. Please double check your entries.
