Should I receive some proof that I amended my taxes

If you printed and mailed the amended tax return and did not request a verification of receipt from the Post Office then you will not have any proof of filing.

 

You can check the status of a federal amended tax return, Form 1040-X on this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return
