Refund

My son filed in February and owed money due to unemployment income.  He was told he didn't need to do anything to receive a refund after the law change.  What is the time frame he should be expecting his refund.

The IRS had a goal to have all refunds sent out by September 1.  But that did not happen and many are still waiting.  The IRS does them in batches, so when his comes up, he will get his money.
