Hello,
I e-filed my refund over 3 weeks ago, and was accepted by the IRS within minutes, and was PROJECTED to be paid out by 4/11 according to turbotax, since that would have been exactly 3 weeks. I went on IRS' refund tracker, and it says "still being processed", while still displaying the same refund amount on the left side, but with no orange bars nor estimated date. Did the IRS fall behind within the last month for processing tax refunds due to staffing levels? Been 24 days already, and I am depending on these funds. I have not gotten any letter and no live person has been at the IRS' hotline all week!

bump: anyone have any insight? Are other folks having this issue because of the sudden staffing issues of the IRS? There are no live representatives at the IRS office, they are closed during their normal business hours!!!
The IRS issues most refunds in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. Turbotax gives an estimated date based on the IRS's 21 day timeframe. So it all depends on the IRS and how fast your tax return moves along in the system. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Therefore, I would not worry about the estimated dates.
For the most up to date information regarding your return, visit the IRS Where’s My Federal Refund? site. If the Where’s My Federal Refund? site shows your tax return is processing, during this time the government reviews your refund. During the review process, they look for math errors on your return (extremely rare in TurboTax) and they also check if you owe back taxes, unpaid child support, or other debts.
If they need to make any corrections, they may offset (reduce) your refund. In some cases, the correction might even increase your refund.
Once that part's done, the government approves your refund, which means it's ready to be deposited or sent. At that point the IRS site will update with a direct deposit date.
The general timeline of e-filed returns is: Transmission > Acceptance > Processing > Approval > Refund.
Note: Once your refund status on the IRS shows "Refund Sent" it can take 1 to 5 business days approximately, for the financial institution to deposit fund into your account.

Note:The IRS website does have posted that a IRS representative would not be able to give any further details than what is showing on the refund site.
