Question

Refund meter not matching my actual refund

I filed my taxes in early March, I received my refund already. Now I checked turbo tax for updates and the refund meter says a different refund amount. It's higher than what I received for both federal and state! Its not saying anything as if I already filed this amount. Should I amend this now or do I have to wait and see if I get another deposit?

Did you report a 1099-G for unemployment comp?  The program has been updated to reflect the new $10,200 deduction for that.  You generally do not need to amend for Federal.

However, taxpayers would have to file an amended return if they did not originally claim the EITC or other credits, but now are eligible because the [unemployment comp] exclusion changed their income.  These taxpayers may want to review their state tax returns as well.

Yes I filed a 1099-G showing the amount of my unemployment.  I just figured that TurboTax would at least give me a message stating that either I have to amend or do nothing for now since it changed my return without notification.
