Refund is delayed

I received a notification that I will be receiving a letter by mail to verify my identity. I filed on the first day in hopes of having any delays and I also paid the extra for 5 day early refund guarantee. This letter took 5 weeks to get onto of already waiting the first two weeks.  While researching this letter in your forum I'm a little uneasy to see how TurboTax states to have no control over how long it takes us to receive a refund.  I can see how asking for a refund for paying for the five day early guarantee will go. I don't think advertising 5 day early guarantee for something turbo tax has no control over is ethical and questionable legal.  So do I get a refund on my 5 day early guarantee on  refund that's delayed now 6 weeks?

Refund is delayed

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.  TurboTax does not get any notification from the IRS that you have to verify your identity.  This is between you and the IRS.

As for the "5 day early" refund---that is a different issue.   That offer is based on getting the refund up to five days earlier than the refund date that the IRS says it will issue your refund on.  You do not have such a date at this point.   You have to wait for the IRS to sort out your identity and approve your refund.   Later, if the refund is not issued earlier than the IRS refund date, TT will not charge you the $25 fee.
