Recovery rebate & child support

I filed my 2021 taxes and my refund was $2607 and $1400 of that was my recovery rebate for the stimulus and the IRS has taken all of the amount and offset it to child support!’now to my understanding they can not take your stimulus or recovery rebate and for back taxes or child support so why have they done this and how do I go about getting it corrected!

Sorry, you are incorrect about that.   When the $1400 is on your tax return as a recovery rebate credit, it is subject to being used for any past debt you owe, just like any other part of your refund.
