Hey ladies I have a question my friend got a letter in the mail that says she has to ID verify for her taxes and she can’t do it online can anyone explain the process as to what she has to do? She doesn’t have any of the info to verify online

@1angrymama  She have to call or go into her local IRS office, they will ask questions about 2018, and 2019 returns. It’s a pretty simple process.

If you are unable to register for this online service, please contact us using the toll-free number listed on your 5071C or 5747C letter.

To expedite the process when calling, you MUST have the following:

• the 5071C or 5747C letter and the income tax return (form 1040, 1040-PR, 1040-PR, 1040-NR, 1040-SR, etc.) for the year shown in the letter 
• any prior year income tax return (form 1040, 1040-PR, 1040-NR, 1040-SR, etc.)
• and any supporting W-2’s, 1099’s, Schedule C, Schedule F, etc.
  • Note: A Form W-2 or 1099 is not an income tax return

If we are unable to verify your identity over the phone, we may ask you to schedule an appointment at your local IRS office to verify your identity in person.

@1angrymama  She will have to do as CarissaM noted above. If the IRS can't verify her identity over the phone, she might have to schedule an appointment at the local IRS office to verify her identity in person, regardless if she filed her 2018 return or not. She may not have had to file a 2018 tax return.
