Why would CA state return still show as pending after 2 days?

CA is usually 1 to 2 weeks for acceptance. At least that has been my experience.

My federal return got accepted on 2/11, my CA state return is still pending. I e-filed both returns at the same time. This is the 1st time my state return remains in pending status for such a long time.

10+ years with turbotax....every time my fed/California state gets accepted within 2 hours of submission. Something is wrong this year for sure.  Going on 7 days for state pending status for myself...

Agreed with you we paid money to use their software.  I am waiting for a supervisor to call me back

I filled it on 02/12 and it's still pending but my friend filled it yesterday and accepted it the same day.

Update: 

After my email to the president/etc I got a follow up email from the office of the President Turbo tax to say they are going to work on this issue for me.

Hour later I get a call from a nice lady whom said she has been assigned and is working on my issue. She is going to reach back out today or tomorrow with an update after her team finds out what is going on. She mentioned perhaps the IRS didn't sent the return to California but said don't quote her on that., to which I replied I helped my friend do his taxes and both his returns were accepted within the hour while my state is still pending......only difference is I filed way early on 2/1/21 and for his we did it on 2/15/21.

Same issue for me. Filed 2/13...Fed accepted immediately, CA still pending.

I am owed a refund... I am not sure that makes a difference. It seems that there are A LOT of people in the same boat. I have also used Turbo Tax for the past 10 plus years and my federal and state have ALWAYS filed the same way. BOTH get accepted at the same time, or within a VERY small amount of time within another. Hopefully is enough people will bring this up to their attention they can fix it....??

I plan on contacting Turbo Tax and tell them I plan on calling and sending emails to local news stations.

Start by emailing president/etc that a few others posted their contact info for. It worked for me and I have someone trying to fix my CA state pending issue as I type this. I hope it gets resolved!

Used Turbo Tax 2018, 2019, and 2020.  I am owed a refund and this is the only year that State of CA has hung up in pending status for 5 days.  Last time for 2019 return , state & fed were both accepted same day.  This has to be a software/state of ca form issue that Turbo was unaware of and returns are not being accepted.  One other data point, I itemized this year....is everyone else in pending state itemized or did you take standard deduction?

Standard for me like every year.

I believe it is an issue for us who filed early and then some state software updates were made but we already filed ours long before. I confirmed in my turbotax desktop program, 3 updates were made to the CA State software up until 2/12/21. I helped my friend complete his taxes on 2/15/21 and his returns including state were accepted 2 hours after we did them on 2/15/21.
