My federal tax refund has been delayed some 40 days (will be 45 days on 4/23). I received a message today saying by tax refund was approved but that it had been changed. It was reduced by $1730, saying I claimed either a qualifying dependent (which I did not do), last name of dependent did not match (again no dependents), adjusted gross exceeds 75K (it does not), etc. I saw a post about an error on line 30, which is associated with not receiving a stimulus payment. I received my stimulus payments and DID NOT enter $1730 on line 30. How did that information get there? I was careful not to include extra info associated with the stimulus checks. And now I am being penalized by the IRS.
Also, if 4/23/21 makes the 45 day mark for refunds, will I receive interest after 4/23?

It sounds like the Recovery Rebate credit is calculated on your 2020 income tax return.
If you were eligible for both stimulus payments but did not receive them, you would have been entitled to the credit.
Recovery Rebate Credit eligibility
If you noted that you did not receive the stimulus payments on your income tax return when you actually did receive them, the IRS will adjust your overall return and notify you of any corrections accordingly.
Please see the link below for additional information regarding this adjustment.
Correcting Recovery Rebate Credits on returns already filed
" I was careful not to include extra info associated with the stimulus checks"
this is a mistake.
You were expected to tell tell TurboTax how much you did get for EIP1 and EIP2.
