Why are there strange abbreviations listed as a series of selections during the e-file segment for state taxes?

What state and where exactly are you in the program? Can you include a screenshot?

I'm getting the same repetitive requests for a California return.

Try closing TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies, and reopen TurboTax.  Please let us know if doing this resolves your issue.

For anyone still having this issue, it would be helpful If you could send us a diagnostic file that has your numbers but not your personal information so that we can take a closer look.

Here are the instructions to create a diagnostic file in TurboTax Desktop (CD/Download): 

1. Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax CD/Download for Windows
2. Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
3. Write down or send an image of your token number in this thread
