Where is the portal to enter direct deposit info for stimulus check

Yes, I get the foreign earned income exclusion so because i pay taxes to the country I am in, I am not required to double pay taxes. So, if I earn less than 100k than I am still eligible to the credit and have a zero tax to U.S.  I make far less than 100k and could use the help as I too have been cut from my job. Any help is greatly appreciated. :(

OK ... so there is more to the story ... you ARE required to file a return !!!!  So you should NOT have filed the "simple" return .... so now you DO have to amend the return.   I don't know how this will work logistically.   If you used the TT program to complete the return you mailed in  then you will probably need to remove all the income/deductions and enter in $1 of bank interest then complete the FILE tab and choose to mail in the return .... then reopen the return and start the amendment process and add back in all the income/deductions to populate a form 1040X.

Where is the portal to enter direct deposit info for stimulus check

Okay but I have filed through Turbotax and I followed all of the steps throughout the forms in regard to my foreign earned income, bona fide residence statement and foreign assets declaration...ect.

What exactly defines a "Simple" returns form?

I am quite sure it was the correct way to file since it was aware that I was filing from abroad based off of several factors..

if you entered your direct deposit or debit information in your return, the IRS will use this information to disburse your stimulus check. You do not need to do anything additional.

I filed through TT with a foreign earned income using the paper method since that is the only option to those abroad. I was informed by another on the forum that I must have filed the "simple" return and that was incorrect.

How do I know if I filed a "simple" return or not?

Thanks

The "simple" tax return does not exist any longer.  For tax years beginning 2018 and 2019, the 1040A and EZ forms are no longer available.  So, you did not file a simple tax return.

@Ma44

There is no such thing as a "SIMPLE" tax form but right  now there is a simple 1040 which is used being this year for the stimulus registration ONLY ... it will look no different than the reg 1040 except the only info will be in the personal info section, $1 of bank interest  and the DD info.   SO ... Ma44 ... if you used the registration program by mistake you will have a form 1040 as described before and NO additions forms or schedules attached.  If you must amend your return this is what you will be starting from ... this will be what is in column A of the 1040X.

What if you filed your 2019 return and it has not yet been approved. Will they still use the banking info from the unapproved 2019 return for stimulus deposits?

Yes I understand your pain, especially since you are abroad, but be that as it may you probably can't be any more informed than anyone stateside either because you can't reach any live people here at this quasi government company so they give us this "portal " to converse with other people who probably don't know much more either about the subject;speaking of which if this communication system is up and sharing information why in God's name couldn't our malfeasant government put up an information sharing portal by now, oh apologies I think I answered my own question Lol!

I too answered the turbo taxes(government approved tax consultant, wondering how many politicians that approved that statement had a stake(or steaks on the company)in the company) thinking I was on my way to giving the knuckleheads who already have my bank information from owing them money for last year's 2018 taxes on a payment plan that we just paid off( by the way it reminds me of a very funny story if you will indulge me, when we setup this payment plan(because as previously stated in another comment The Donald in all his wisdom gave us middle class schleps a "tax break" by limiting the maximum property tax deduction to $10k a year well our middle class long island New York property tax is $15k a year so now instead of breaking even or so we owe about $6700, nice, and I thought he said Mexico was paying for "The Wall", but we also happened to have to pay for "Spaceballs" or "Spaceforce" or something like that)anywho getting back on track we submitted signed copies of our bank account information with amounts listed to be deducted automatically monthly as per our accountant with both of our notarized signatures and made copies, submitted the originals and made an initial payment at that time, well a month or so went by and nothing happened so we contacted the IRS and they said they didn't receive it and now it was too late for the automatic bank deduction and we would have to pay every month manually, really I find it funny that they took my initial payment, but conveniently lost our bank information! So now they tack on more penalties and interest for being late, such a user friendly entity that our forefathers gave U.S. citizens the 2nd amendment for!) and after filling out our personal information and finding out what we due from the stimulus(by the way is our tax money as in "We The People " not a Donald handout like my dumbass Trumptard friend says "we criticize him but take his money "! Lmao! So I remind him that Trump was informed about this health crisis by his intelligence and medical advisors as far back as November and reiterated numerous times through February along with being told as far back as 2017 by these same advisors that the country was woefully unprepared with crucial  medical supplies if a pandemic occurred, but brushed it off because he had a hunch it was a democratic hoax that would go away in the spring and that he was primarily responsible for not closing our borders(to all but goods) to all travelers and not just China since the plague was now spread all over Asia and Europe and now he's unleashed to U.S. the worst health crisis since the Spanish Flu and the worst financial crisis since the great depression all of which he took an oath of office as Potus to protect U.S. against from enemies foreign and domestic so the result is he has the blood of some 10,000 innocent Americans on his hands with many tens of thousands more, maybe hundreds of thousand, I've hoped I've answered your question, and so I'm of the notion that you are better off abroad than here at home where he's allowed more Americans to die than any other country on earth including China and Italy, God Bless, be well and pray for ones stuck back here with that narcissistic, sociopath AKA "The Donald"!!!

Where is the portal to enter direct deposit info for stimulus check

Yes all of us would who owed the government money thanks to Donald's "tax cut" but with the "ongoing health crisis we are not able to take your call right now with limited staffing, please understand your hunger and rent or mortgage is important to us but please try your call again later" because we are trying to figure out why the banks we already gave the billions in stimulus to aren't loaning that seriously needed money to the small businesses it was meant for(reminiscent of 2007 financial crisis where the criminals on wall street that caused the disaster, got bailouts, kept the money for their bottom line and didn't go to jail including one of the biggest culprits Jamie Dimon, who coincidently is still in today, though he was found to be culpable for billions in fines! Ok, sorry I don't have a quick answer for you, join the club of the disenfranchised American citizens and at least we still have a leaky roof over our heads and we're not as bad off as the hundreds of thousands of homeless Americans, yet!!!!

If you are not filing a 2019 tax return and you are not required to file a tax return and you do not receive Social Security benefits, then use this TurboTax website to register for the stimulus - https://turbotax.intuit.com/stimulus-check/

If you have filed a 2019 tax return and need to change or add your direct deposit information, see this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?
In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.

If you receive Social Security benefits, see this US Treasury website - https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm967
