When will my direct deposit hit?

Does your status in Where's My Refund? tool state Refund Sent? If so, it could take up to 5 days after the refund has been sent for it to be reflected on your card, it all depends on the bank related to the card, how and when funds are credited.

TurboTax tracks whether your federal tax return as been accepted or rejected, and gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS.

For the most up to date information on your refund, you can track your federal refund here: Where's My Refund?  Please note that the IRS issues most refunds within 21 days of your return being accepted.

The IRS Where's My Refund? lookup service provides a specific, personalized date for your tax refund.

If your return contains The IRS will begin issuing tax refunds on returns with the EIC or Additional Child Tax Credit on February 27, 2019.

When will my direct deposit hit?

It depends. You can check the status of your third payment by using the Get My Payment tool, which is live on the IRS website. The IRS issues stimulus payments, not TurboTax, so it will be best to contact them to get the status of your payment.

In addition, the IRS issues most refunds from e-filed returns in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review.

To find out where your refund is, first check your e-file status. If it's been accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site. You'll need your Social Security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact amount of your refund to check your status.

For some taxpayers, PATH Act requirements and other identity-protection safeguards implemented by the IRS may account for longer wait times.

Other things that can delay your refund include, but are not limited to:

  • Liens, back taxes, or refund offsets
  • Errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Identity fraud
  • Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which can take 11-14 weeks to process

Also, if you chose direct deposit, your financial institution may need another day or two to post the refund to your account, so keep that in mind.
