What signature date should I use to e-file an amended tax return for 2019? (TTX limits end date to 12/31/20)

Here's yet another issue with printing. Turbotax is telling me to use Adobe Reader to print the document because "returns printed via software other than Adobe Reader are having issues being recognized by the agencies." I don't even know what that means. It's printed on paper. How can it make a difference what software you use to display it before printing? Plus, my version of Adobe is outdated and apparently there is no update for my Mac OS version. I don't even see that you get a choice in TurboTax about what application is used.

Turbo Tax's own amendment explanation articles say you might be able to e-file amendment for current year and 2 years prior (so current year is 2023, prior 2 years would be 2022, 2021)

And yet I am unable to e-file an amendment for Tax year 2021. It expects correct signature date to be in 2022. Why? It makes absolutely no sense especially when IRS allows it!!

Same concern! Software itself seems to be confused, leading us in circles

@ManjManya

Only certain paid tax pros can still e-file past year amended returns. You cannot e-file an amended past year return that you prepared yourself using TurboTax.  Your 1040X must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and then you need to mail it in.  Use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it, since you will have a long wait for it to be processed.
