What does "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available." Exactly mean?

I dont know, because I send all my paper work in to the IRs and no email to see where my refund is.

I file 2018 and it say accept, but still nothing, I refile it this year over.

Unfortunately, the IRS is extremely understaffed due to COVID-19. Paper returns won't be processed at all till the IRS resumes normal operations, and even e-filed returns are delayed. I'm sorry I don't have better news for everyone.

If you don't receive your refunds by the time the IRS resumes normal operations, please call them at 800 829 1040.

From my Adv. Mrs Bailey @IRS she said it means there a problem on her end our was showing not excepted need copy of ins . Hence we have had the very same ins for five yr plus I have medcare there was no reason for it what so ever but yet we still don’t have ours and it’s still being processed since Jan 29

This year I filed on the 25th of February.  By paper mail.  Anyone else still waiting for theirs ? I know the irs offices are shutdown but i filed before they shut down their offices in April in which I should have gotten back my FED back . I filed state same day and received it in March.  Thinking about efiling and resubmitting but I read somewhere not to do that and can cause a even bigger delay down the road.  My thing is ... how is that if idk they even received my original paper sent taxes.  Wmr states information not matched.  So to me they haven't even started the process. Help!

Good luck on trying to get a hold of anyone to talk to. All I have gotten for the past 2 months is that all local offices are closed. No one to talk to as they have closed their local offices due to Coronavirus.

Its bull crap I filed January 29th and I called just a day or two ago and I still can't get any status info or why it's taking them so long it's not right we should at least be informed once it has been so long right

Basically, they found something wrong with it. N due to the covid there hasn't been anyone in to answer. I'm going to be calling with my phone on charge n speaker on n keep busy while I wait to talk them. It takes long to get ahold of somebody just have questions written down and ask them whats going on? What do I need to do? How do I get a tax advocate while experiencing financial hardship?

"SUPPOSEDLY" they are open as of May 1st. As long as they hold our money up in their accounts all they do is collect the interest off it..

You should receive a letter from the IRS with the information they need to verify your identity.  Usually you will need information from your 2019 tax return as well as your 2018 tax return, if you filed in 2018.

If you are required to call in with this information, you will not be able to do so until the IRS offices re-open. It is not yet known when that may be.
