No I didn't do anything like that. I just decided to log in a check again and noticed the file was gone.
Logged in again.
When clicking on Documents mine were still there.
I was going to use that option but was in the middle of doing 2024 taxes. If my data was still there I would do that since my returns are now done and completed.
Using or trying the Data & Privacy option might delete everything and then you might have to create a new Intuit account.
Maybe someone here can confirm this.
That is why I will not do it. I have to many obsolete accounts that I can not delete.
I did nothing other than complain in this forum, and on the TT survey after I submitted my taxes.
All my 1099 as far back as 2022 are still there. :(
A couple of days ago TurboTax had several years of my 1099s stored as Documents, even though I used the Desktop version. I did not complain about it, but now today, all of the Documents except for a 2019 1040 return have magically disappeared with no comment or explanation from TurboTax. Bad security to say the least. I wish they would go ahead and magically remove the old 2019 1040 return as well.
If you would like to delete the 2019 1040 return on TurboTax Desktop, you can follow these steps provided by TurboTax:
This post is not about deleting a Turbotax 1040 that is located on one's computer.
It is about deleting 1099's that are under the Document module (box) when you log in to one's TurboTax account online.
I understand. I was providing information to txmx who stated he would like to remove the 2019 return as well. The link provided is for how he can do that.
I just logged in to my account and all I see now is my 1099's that I downloaded this year.
I do see duplicates there and that was because during the first download the download did not import properly.
So, I had to do it again. Which produced the duplicate downloads. The second try was successful.
As of now I can not delete the duplicates. It would be nice if I could.
Hi Brittany, thanks for the reply, however I do not want to remove my 2019 1040 from TurboTax Desktop for Windows (this is the link you sent). I do want to delete my 2019 1040 from my Intuit account. You guys put it there somehow, and I don't want it online, as I want to keep this on my desktop computer only. That is one reason I don't do my tax returns online. You currently do not have a way for users to remove these types of documents. But somehow, from comments on this forum, some documents have mysteriously been removed. My many 1099 documents mysteriously disappeared in the last couple of day. I would like for my 2019 1040 to disappear from my Documents section also. But I can't do it myself. That is the problem. Thanks.
You can remove the documents by signing into your Intuit Account. Then click on Data & Privacy. Follow the instructions to remove your data.
Doesn't that completely remove your TurboTax account and all other personal info?
Thus, this would make TT Desktop unusable since when you open it, TT servers would not see that there is an account associated with the TT Desktop.
Then you would have register all over again using a different email and user ID even if you use the Desktop version.
This needs to be clarified before I or anyone tries the delete process.
