It's a "feature" if this were Microsoft. However this is Intuit, where apparently it's also a feature, not a bug, as this thread is marked solved. You can't hear my sarcasm through a message. In short, it's a bug, totally not fixed and you have to workaround, which is problematic.
Thank you for that obscure workaround. I encountered the print failures on 03/10/2025, using the in-app Print buttons and also File>Print. A couple additional observations, following your steps 8 & 9.
8. Another new window will open up -- this one, at least on my computer, is a very tiny version of my entire 2024 Federal Tax Return
:: Comment: I noticed a similar tiny window earlier but, after significant time, it did not populate and I clicked Done. Maybe should have waited longer 😕
9) Put your cursor over the tiny preview window (ie, over your mini-tax return). A small 4-item menu will appear (if it's not already there).
:: BRILLIANT. I would likely never have tried that. The full-size PDF return appeared and I was able to print it.
Two thumbs up for the workaround. Agree that TurboTax needs to fix this ASAP.
Hi All,
I found a work around - not really a solution,
You need PDF Viewer app and it needs to be in the same Applications Folder as your TurboTax software.
Choose File on top level of MAC window
Select Preview .. PDF Viewer window will open up with your Return(s).
You can then use PDF Viewer functionality to save a print ..
Why Intuit can't tell you this !?
Why Intuit doesn't fix the functionality within the App ?
Very frustrating ..
PDF Reader not PDF Viewer
Hi,
I am having the same printing problem-- it looks like a bug in TurboTax Premier 2024.
Using TurboTax Premier 20024 on a MacBookPro M1, running Ventura 13.7.3
Verified My printer is working properly printing everything else.
Here is what I get when I go to print a return:
When I try to print Tax form
That's it-- No printer shows up and message goes away, and never prints.
TurboTax Support I hope you can fix this problem-Today is March 12, 2025.
I had same problem with failure of TT to print off their Save Your Returns page. Solution is to go to File menu, Preview. A small box opens. The download button doesn’t work. But if you click on the magnifying icon (not the + sign), a full document opens up. You can then save and print normally. I get more aggravated with TT every year as they add unnecessary features and it becomes more glitchy.
There is a workaround posted 3/12/2025 in Community>Discussions>Taxes>Get your taxes done>Re: Print function STILL BROKEN! with new March 6, 2025 2024.r21.027 version of TurboTax 2024 Premier for Mac Deskop...
I have been having the exact same print problem! What’s up intuit???
3/14/25. Won't print. Boop sound then nothing. I was able to print to a PDF earlier, but not now.
WTF Turbo Tax!! Have used TT for years. NOT worth it IF you can't print - to printer OR Digital!
@dbrownzell and @Tbrownfla and @LGBELL ...
-- and anybody else who's still having trouble printing ...
Apparently, Intuit has finally made SOME updates to the printing features of their wonky 2024 TurboTax product. I have noticed that while at least one of the 2 Methods below seemed to work for MOST people for a long time, now that Intuit has attempted to fix their Print and/or Save to PDF features, more people seem to report less luck with the following 2 Methods, which is a confusing outcome.
Anyway, an attempt at these two Methods is worth a try! (Try the 1st one first, then move to the 2nd if the 1st one does not work for you.)
The first Method has been posted by bpayseno and others since January:
Method 1 posted By bpayseno:
Work-around until Intuit fixes the print function.
1) Use the "Save to PDF" option in the "File" menu of the desktop program and save a copy of your returns to location you can easily find on your computer.
2) Open the PDF of your returns in your PDF reader program (acrobat, Preview, etc.) and use that program to print to your local printer.
^ That solution seems to have worked for most people, at least up until the time that Intuit most recently updated their Print and Save to PDF features.
Method 2 posted by maukro (me):
If Method 1 doesn't work for you, then try this more cumbersome workaround, which I originally posted in late-January, and which did work for most people for quite a long while.

Here's how I eventually got my 2024 Tax Return to print (Mac Desktop with TurboTax Desktop Version, HP printer)...
1) With TurboTax open on my desktop and on the Save For Your Records tab ...
2) I clicked on "File" from the TurboTax menu in the top menu bar ...
3) Then I chose "Preview" at the bottom of the "File" dropdown menu ...
4) Upon doing that, a new Preview window opened up.
5) Ensure that "2024 Federal Tax Return" is checked on the left hand side of the new window.
6) Choose which 2024 Tax Return forms you'd like to print. (I stuck with the default labeled "Recommended forms & worksheets.")
7) Click on the blue "Preview" button in the lower right of that same window.
8. Another new window will open up -- this one, at least on my computer, is a very tiny version of my entire 2024 Federal Tax Return.
9) Put your cursor over the tiny preview window (ie, over your mini-tax return). A small 4-item menu will appear (if it's not already there).
10) Click on the little icon to the left of the download arrow. (The download arrow on the far right of that 4-item menu did not function properly for me. It would not download the preview.) The icon you should click on looks like an ink bottle in front of a square piece of paper.
11) Now, a new window will open up in the "Preview" app. In my case, the new document that opened up had a strange document name with six letters and numbers followed by "-Unknown.pdf." I changed the document's name to my own choosing prior to taking the next step so that I could find my file after I saved it.
12) Now, from the Preview menu in the top menu bar, Click on "File."
13) Click on "Print" at the bottom of that "File" menu.
14) You will now be able to Save your TurboTax return as a PDF ... and/or ... you will be able to Print your TurboTax return.
15) Phew. That's a lot of work, TurboTax!
Signed,
maukro
That is exactly what my my does, even after all the updates since you first reported it.
Thank you SOOO Much! Second method worked. I too was able to do the first way 2 weeks ago, but not now.
You're a genius!
I get the beep, but sometimes there is a brief flash of a dialog box that goes away too fast to read or ascertain what it was trying to convey.
Wonderful, @dbrownzell I'm so glad it worked for you!
Did you see the workarounds I posted just above your most recent post?
