The IRS did not process an amendment to my 2020 taxes for unemployment. I need to file an amendment. How do I do that? When I clicked AMEND, it told me to buy software

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2022 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year 2020 and Click on Amend (change) 2020 return

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

I did all of that and it says I have to purchase the desktop edition, but the desktop edition is not compatible with my computer.  Is there a way to make the amendment using the online edition? I downloaded and saved the .tax file when I originally filed.

No, a prior year tax return cannot be amended using the TurboTax online editions.

Here are the minimum system requirements for the Windows and Mac operating systems by year.  Is your computer not compatible based on these requirements -
