My federal return was accepted on 2/12 and state was accepted 2/14. I have received my state refund and my stimulis payment but no federal return. I do have the eic and ctc on my return, but its been almost 5 weeks now. Also, this year I claim both of my children on my return and they do live with me all year long. But because my taxes haven't processed I have only received the stimulis for 1 child. Will I be able to correct this? How can I find out what the problem with my refund is? I'm a single mother of 2 and am relying on my refund. What can I do?

Unfortunately, you are not the only person in this exact same situation. The IRS is so very slow in processing right now - and sadly enough it appears as though it is most affecting those who really need the money the most that are waiting so long to receive their refunds and additional stimulus money due to them. What I have been told is that those with EIC and CTC are taking somewhat longer to process versus just a simple 1040 with no potential credits due to the tax payer. So, again, unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait for them to begin getting caught up. Not the news you want to hear, I know.
Thank you for your response. Do you know if it will be possible to correct the amount I received from the stimulus after my return is finally processed. I claimed both of my children on my taxes this year. Both live with me full time, but I only received stimulus for 1 child.
Unfortunately, we have been noticing that many of our customers are receiving less than the amount that is due them. We do not have information from the IRS as to why this occurs; however As customers continue to have questions regarding the Economic Impact Payments (EIP), we’re continuing to work with the IRS for guidance. We’re updating our customer and expert-facing articles with information as soon as we get it.
For the most up to date information available regarding stimulus amounts being sent to our customers by the IRS, please review the new FAQs in the article, How will the third stimulus impact me?
