I mean ....what part is a scam? When WMR shows your refund date ...turbo tax gives it 5 days early. If the IRS doesn't update WMR ....then how would turbo tax know it's approved and what your refund date is? They can't control when the IRS updates WMR and you won't be charged $25 at all if they can't give it to you early. I'm not understanding what part is actually a scam

Turbo tax cannot see your transcripts though. Did WMR update for you? Because if it didn't, turbo tax cannot see what your refund date is to even provide it early. Unfortunately it seems those with a date of the 24th will not get the 5 day early deposit since the IRS did not update WMR for most.

If turbo tax cannot see the transcripts....how would they be able to provide it 5 days earlier?  It's not as if the IRS is sending it to them early. Turbo tax was going to pay you early ....but if they can't see a date on WMR I'm not sure how they would be able to provide the deposit early. It's not as if the IRS is sending it to turbo tax 5 days early. If WMR had updated to show the date on the transcript, I'm sure TT would have been able to send it early as planned. Unfortunately WMR hasn't updated ...yet. I highly doubt it will update today at all now but we will see

Then this defeats the whole purpose because wheres my refund never updates for everyone.  My transcripts are saying the 24th.  Which would make theb5 days early TODAY. This is a scam. And i waant my money back because wmr wont update until Saturday.  Today is Wednesday.  Smh. Wmrr is still showing path messages.

If turbo tax doesn’t have full access and communication with the IRS then they shouldn’t offer a service lol

TurboTax is NOT checking WMR for every single person, I can promise you that. They have to get some kind of notification from the IRS to know that your refund has been issued and that’s the 846 code—and usually the WMR updates the day after that, but not always. Like I said, WMR never updates for me. Why would they be going off of WMR? It’s literally just a tool that taxpayers can use. I assume that there is some kind of automatic notification to release the money once the code goes through. If they’re using WMR, scam, because they don’t even update that consistently and it’s never been a reliable way to tell. I got my DDD last night for 2/24 and have heard zero from TT with no updated WMR either. I’ll be annoyed if I don’t get my money today.

No the $40.00 is the fee to have the turbo tax payment deducted from your federal refund! The $25.00 is separate! Click on the drop down window and you will see the $25.00 fee!

I don’t understand. Why have so many ppl including myself have signed up for the “5days early” option to receive our refunds and Turbo Tax is not honoring it. There should have been a disclaimer saying except those on Path or something. Anything. We should’ve received our refunds Tuesday since Monday was an holiday. My refund date also says 02/24 like everyone else. Still no funds. We all deserve a refund because this is definitely a scam. This is sad because I’ve been using Turbo Tax for 4+ years now..

TT gets information as the filer that the refund date is set, they then send your refund amount to their bank to do a same day deposit to your bank or card.  It has nothing to do with WMR, as that does not update for a few days.

Couldnt agree more.  My IRS transcript shows 846 and deposit date of 02/24/2025.  The "WMR" is absolute garbage.  The fact that it never updates for some people is just ridiculous.  For how advanced we are in technology, this shouldnt be an issue.  Not surprising though. I know i wont receive my deposit early.  If they did it to one person than clearly the writing is on the wall.  Been with Turbo Tax for 7 years and this is surprisingly deceiving of them.  Lots of garuntees are covering the home page of the TT website, so why they would pull a stunt so unnecessary is beyond me.  Maybe its time to move on from TT before things get even worse.

Again this really makes no sense. The past 3 years I received my deposit before WMR and TurboTax posted a date or said approved/sent. As a matter of fact last year my TurboTax didn't update to "refund sent" until almost 10-14 days after I received my $. at this point im regretting falling for this "5days early" scam and really just want my $back.   Viewing your 846 code-  "refund issued" on your transcript on the IRS website is far more accurate than the WMR tool. The two don't update simultaneously. Your transcripts can update multiple times a day whereas where is my refund? Will only update once per day if at all...

But WMR ONLY reflects what’s on the transcripts. There won’t be a different date, so why is there an issue with people receiving their 5 days early?

You don’t have to call customer service.

Yes I also get 2/24/25 for issue date and have the five days early with that being said shouldn’t I also get it today is what I’m thinking but nothing yet… but trust and believe if I don’t get it early, I will be fighting for my $25 back!
