What does code 151 mean on the irs refund status??

Code 151 means IRS is reviewing your return.  There is nothing you need to do right now.  IRS will send you a letter of explanation in approximately 4 weeks. The letter will provide details of the reason for the review and give instructions about what you need to do next.  Sometimes it is just a matter of providing some additional information.

Is there anyway I can find out what it is or fix it online before I get the letter to try an speed up the process

Not really ... if you log into the IRS online account you may be able to see what was mailed out if anything was already issued ...  https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account
