My federal taxes were filed I was supposed to receive $2400 back from federal. Last week I received a direct deposit from TP, NOT THE IRS, for $800. WHY?

my deposit was set to be direct deposited into my account. For the past 6 years that I've been filing my direct deposits have always come from the IRS and been fine. This year it came from TPG and was 1200 less than what it was supposed to be. I have tried contacting turbo tax several times with no answers. I have called several IRS numbers and everything checks out with the IRS. Their calculations were the same as Turbotax. Why did I receive less than what was Filed?

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

So they can take $1200 in tax and fees? I've contacted TPG group and they were unable to provide any information to me about my refund

First verify the amount of the federal tax refund that was sent by the IRS at the IRS website for federal tax refunds- https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Is the refund that was sent by the IRS the exact same amount as was reported on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 34?

The IRS had the same information as my tax return. I owe nothing in tax or negative accounts. There was no other reason for my return to be less than what it was

@madisynrooke Then you will need to contact an agent at TPG and find out why the total amount of your refund less TurboTax account fees and their $39 service charge was not deposited into your bank account.

See I've tried contacting them. I was told that they could not provide me any information regarding the amount that was taken out of my taxes. Like I've said, I've reached out to all three points of contact (TT,IRS, and TPG) with no answers as to why my return was $1200 Less than what was filed
