Married filing jointly only received $1200 stimulus.

Hello, my husband and I filed Married Filing Jointly for both 2018 and 2019. However we only received my portion of the stimulus, $1200 per the IRS site. 2018 we owed but we received $1200 to the account on our tax return.  What happened to the other $1200. We used the Get My Payment portal on IRS.gov and it said " According to the information we have on file, we can not determine your eligibility for a payment at this time." What happened Turbotax?

Be grateful you got one. I understand the frustration, but some still haven’t received our taxes or stimulus even tho we filed direct deposit!

The stimulus check is actually an advance of a refundable tax credit for your 2020 tax return.  When you file your 2020 tax return your stimulus amount will be adjusted to provide you with the correct amount.

I only received $1200 stimulus and was supposed to get $2400.

What can I do?

If you are eligible, you will receive the balance when you file your 2020 tax return next year.
