I got the first two economic impact payments for all of my other children and myself and my spouse. I had a daughter born in july 2020, so I know she is eligible and turbo tax software calculated that into line 30 of my return. It stated I was eligible to receive 1100 recovery rebate credit. The IRS has approved my return but says we are not eligible for the recovery rebate.
We have never made over the income limits, none of our dependents aged out as they are all 12 and under. Tax advocate says he doesn't know why they took it off and that I will have to appeal the IRS's decision to get it now. My question is what is the appeal process?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Wait until you get the letter from the IRS, and then call the number on it.
I am aware of that part, I was more hoping someone had done an appeal before and could tell me if it was a simple process or not. A friend told me id basically be asking them to audit me and be prepared to send in a lot of documentation so im just curious what the process entails.
