I filed my tax returns electronically with TurboTax on March 11, 2019. On May 15, 2019, IRS corrected an error in the Tax Worksheet for 2018 Schedule D. This significantly affects the amount of tax that I owed for the year. Will TurboTax notify me when IRS advises taxpayers about how to correct my return to reflect the update?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Once IRS accepts your return for processing, TurboTax gets no further information about changes made, so there will be no related actions performed. Further communications are only between you and IRS, unless you wish to share contents for help in responding.
I got bill for over $3000.00 even though I used the Federal tax from TurboTax. What is going on?
As the above answer says: we cannot offer any help unless you tell us what the IRS questioned or changed.
The IRS added Lines 18 a, b, and c to the original Schedule D Tax Worksheet. The net is a change in Line 45 "Tax on all taxable income." For me, this results in a reduction of almost $1,400.

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

What? Do you need to start your own return? When did he die? If he passed in 2018 you should still file a Joint return. If he passed before 2018 you now file as Single, not separate.
If you used Turbo Tax last year you should start a brand new account for yourself and not transfer from last year. Online is only good for 1 return. But you can use the same email address for 5 accounts. How to start another return in the Online version https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3288574
