I thought my parents would claim me as dependent so I filed like that. Apparently I do not qualify?

I am 24 y/o and a part time student. My parents told me they did not claim me for 2019 but they did for the years before that. Do I get a stimulus check even if I accidental filed as dependent?. I filed an amendment just in case, but will this affect my stimulus check?

You did the right thing by amending your return with Form 1040X.  Since they didn't claim you, but you indicated that you did, there isn't a clear answer regarding whether or not your stimulus payment will be advanced to you in the coming weeks.

If your payment is not given to you in the rounds of deposits and checks that are advanced, you will be able to claim it as a refundable credit when you file your 2020 tax return in 2021.

Currently, there is no way to check on the status of an individual's payment.

The IRS is currently building a tool that should be available soon to track the status of payments, and if necessary, provide updates for payment preferences.
