Here's how to enter tribal per capita distributions in TurboTax. By following these steps the income will appear on Form 1040 line 21 with the description "Indian Tribal Distrib." It's very important that it be reported with this exact description in order to avoid delaying the processing of your tax return and possibly getting a notice from the IRS. The IRS computers recognize this description and will handle the income properly.
What about the EIN number?
Your 1099-Misc may show 'Payer's TIN' instead of 'EIN' (screenshot).
@Jaz10 I'm not sure what your question is. This thread is about entering a per capita distribution for which the taxpayer received a Form 1099-MISC. The payer's EIN is on the 1099-MISC. You just enter it in TurboTax from the form. If you received a payment that will be reported on a 1099-MISC, you have to wait until you get the 1099-MISC to enter it in TurboTax. They have until January 31 to send it to you.
This thread is also 5 years old. It's talking about 2016 tax returns. (The June 1, 2019 date on the posts is when it was migrated from the old forum software, not the actual date when it was originally posted.) If you still need help, please post a new question of your own and give all the details of your problem with your 2021 tax return.
