I got an extension from the IRS through TurboTax. Is there a way to prove the IRS approved it meaning documentation from the IRS?

@brockw , if filed on time ( i.e. by the local mid-night  of the filing deadline ), the approval of the extension is automatic.  Your TurboTax file should include a copy of the form filed  ( 4868 ) -- that is all the proof  you will generally have. 

Why do you need documentation on this ?  Applying for a mortgage or what ?

View account on the IRS site ... this will show the extension was filed ...
