I filed my 2019 taxes with Turbo tax ; however, I haven't received my second stimulus check. IRS GetMyPayment says deposit was made on January 4th, 2021. Not received!

Astonishingly, the first payment was deposited the same day it was made by IRS. The account number displayed by IRS ends with the 4 digits Turbox tax appended to my bank account.

It may take your bank a few business days to process the payment, so keep checking your account.

If you changed your bank account or if your account was closed, your bank has to reject this payment and send it back. We are working with the IRS and Treasury to find an alternative way to deliver your stimulus payment.

You can make an adjustment on your 2020 tax return for stimulus payments you qualify for, but have not received.

To do this in TurboTax, please follow these steps:

  1. Enter the information in your return.
  2. Click Federal Review at the top of your screen.
  3. On the screen, Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click Continue.
  4. You will be asked about the amounts of first round and second round stimulus payments you received
  5. TurboTax will then calculate the amount of stimulus payment remaining that you are still entitled to.  This will show as a credit on line 30 of the 1040.

Thanks for the reply!

I got nothing as of this morning.

It's been now 7 days since IRS said payment deposited, but I still haven't received it.

I understand the bank needs time to process, but 7 days is a lot of time already!

Hello,

I finally received a check via mail with the second stimulus money. However, I already claimed it with the recovery rebate option, and I have submitted my tax return.

Would you allow me to amend the return since it has not been transmitted to IRS yet?

Thank you!

You do not need to amend your return.  You can revisit your tax return and make adjustment.  To see instructions how to do that, click here: Recover Rebate Credit update

The Recovery Rebate Credit is a credit that was authorized by the CARES Act.  If you were eligible for an Economic Impact payment, commonly referred to as a stimulus payment, but did not receive one or you received less than the full amount as an advanced payment in 2020 then you can claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return. Hello,

I did not know you had a deadline in place for subscribing to review the recovery rebate. The link you posted says the deadline was February 6th.

However, I need to review the recovery rebate credit, because I finally receive the second stimulus check on February 5th.

Thank you!

February 6th was the deadline for registration to review and update the Recovery Rebate Credit portion of your 2020 tax return before it is sent to the IRS when they open on February 12th.

If you have e-filed your 2020 Federal tax return and the tax return is accepted by the IRS, you will have to amend your 2020 Federal tax return and correct the entries and calculations to receive the Rebate Recovery Credit.

If you have e-filed your 2020 Federal tax return and the tax return is rejected by the IRS, you will have to amend your 2020 Federal tax return and correct the entries and calculations to receive the Rebate Recovery Credit as well as correct the entries that generated the rejection.

If you have not received your second stimulus check, you will receive your payment in the form of a Rebate Recovery Credit on line 30 of your 2020 Federal tax return when you file.

TurboTax will compare your one or two stimulus payment amounts to the computations within TurboTax.  The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that you have entered into the tax software.  If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Rebate Recovery Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2020 1040 tax return.

In TurboTax Online, you are prompted to input stimulus check 1 and stimulus check 2 information under Review down the left hand side of the screen.

You can access your stimulus check choices by following these steps:

  •  Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Across the top of the screen, click on Other Tax Situations.
  • At the screen Let’s keep going to wrap up.  Click on Let’s keep going.
  • At the screen Let’s make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click Continue.
  • At the screen Did you get a stimulus payment? you can update your stimulus check entries.

TurboTax will compare your two payment amounts to the computation within TurboTax.  The computations within TurboTax are based upon the information that has been entered into the tax software.  If you are due an additional amount, it will be issued as a Rebate Recovery Credit (RRC) on line 30 of the 2020 1040 tax return.
