Double check your filing. I called the IRS today wondering where my refund is. They said that I had claimed the Earned Income Tax/EIC. I asked them what that was and it has something to do with kids and income credit. Still don't get it! I informed them that I don't have children and don't even know what the income credit is. I asked her if they have been getting a lot of complaints regarding Turbo Tax and sure enough they have. They are literally messing stuff up. I have been waiting over a month for my refund when usually it takes couple of weeks if that. Double check your filing. I have a random number 7 in my filing that I know for a fact I did not place there.
@Valentina24 I believe what the IRS was trying to explain to you is that refunds claiming the child tax credit or the earned income tax credit may be delayed due to the PATH Act. You can read more about the PATH Act by clicking here. You do not need to have children to claim or qualify for the EIC (earned income credit). Please click here for more information.
@tylisha02 The IRS estimates that most refunds will be sent within three weeks after your e-filed returns are accepted. To get the most accurate date for your refund, please go to Where's My Refund to track your refund. You can also click here to see a chart with estimated refund dates based on the date your return was accepted by the IRS. Once 21 calendar days have passed since your return was accepted, you can reach out to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return. If you call any sooner they will most likely tell you to call back after 21 days. .
