How do I amend my return to switch from standard to itemized deductions?

I don't want to change anything else. The standard deduction is slightly higher than itemized so TurboTax chose standard. But my state taxes will be significantly less if I itemize. I tried the amend option, but it doesn't every prompt to ask which deduction I want to use.

These instructions don't work on the amended returns.

I agree. The instructions only show how to amend tax returns OR, when originally filing, it shows how to change from standard to itemized. But this does NOT show how to amend and change from standard to itemized. There is no WRAP UP DEDUCTIONS !!

It is very annoying. I have gone through the same steps 10 times and it never prompts you to choose standard or itemized.

@rharrigan48 For the online version go to Tools > Topic List > Expand All > Deductions (scroll all the way down) > Itemize Deductions. Click on it and it'll ask you if you want to change from standard to itemized.

In CD/Download, Forms mode, see Fed Info Worksheet (Info Wks) Part VI additional info section.
