How do i get the $1000 dollar college tax credit

Are you referring to education credit?  There is no $1000 college credit.

If you are eligible for an education credit, you would get it by entering your 1098-T on your return.  You can do this in the deduction and credits section by selecting show more next to education then start next to the Expenses and Scholarships tab.  

The lifetime learning credit is a non-refundable $2,000 credit and the American Opportunity Credit is worth up to $2,500 with up to $1,000 of that being refundable.  If your parents claim you as a dependent, they would be the ones to claim the credit.
