I use TT2020 desktop and TT2021 desktop.
I filed my 2020 Federal return BEFORE the change that exempts the first $10,200 of UI from being taxed. Subsequently, out of nowhere, with no explanation, I received a check form the U.S. Treasury. My best guess is that they amended my return and issued a refund. Given this, I know that I do NOT need to file an amended 2020 Federal return, and as such, I do NOT plan to do so.
HOWEVER, in order to (1) file an amended 2020 State return, and (2) have TT2021 “transfer-in” an accurate 2020 Federal return (when TT2021 is first launched), I need an amended/accurate 2020 Federal return. HOW do I "generate" an accurate/amended 2020 federal return? (1) Will TT2020 do this (when first opened)? (2) Or must I do it manually? (3) Or some other way? Please advise. Thanks.

If you need assistance with amending your tax return, you can see important information here in this TurboTax FAQ.
I've already read the information you referred me to. It doesn't answer my question.
WILL TT automatically amend my 2020 return... yes... or no... which one?
It's really not worth the effort to make this happen,
Your UCE refund from IRS should have no effect on your 2021 tax return.
I would just put a sticky note on the paper copy and file it away in your tax records folder.
If you open your filed return,
'TurboTax, being updated, will probably apply the change.
Now you have a copy of a return you did not file and there's no way back.
Always print a copy of your completed tax return for your records, and review it carefully before e-Filing.
You will need it if you are audited by the IRS, or to amend if a TurboTax update changes your return or for any other reason,
AND, to find your AGI next year.
No, TurboTax does not automatically generate an amended return. To amend your return in TurboTax
If you used TurboTax Online, simply log in to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.” If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.”
Go through the questions to create an amended return. Make sure you have a copy of your original return that was filed. If you are amending your 2021 return, make sure that it has been processed by the IRS and the State before you amend the return.
"Make sure you have a copy of your original return that was filed. "
may not be possible if you did not print it earlier and turbotax applies the changes instantaneously.
