A lot of taxpayers are in the same situation as you due to the IRS backlog right now. Although The IRS issues most refunds from e-filed returns in about 21 days, some returns take more time to review. In addition, the IRS is processing millions of returns, as well as stimulus checks, and they are doing everything they can to be as prompt as possible.

Since your return has been accepted, you can begin to track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site. You'll need your Social Security number or ITIN, filing status, and the exact amount of your refund to check your status.

For some taxpayers, PATH Act requirements and other identity-protection safeguards implemented by the IRS may account for longer wait times.

Other things that can delay your refund include, but are not limited to:

  • Liens, back taxes, or refund offsets
  • Errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Identity fraud
  • Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which can take 11-14 weeks to process

Haven’t got my return yet

My tax return was really basic.  My personal deduction was the basic $12,000.  So I had no deductions.  I'm beginning my retirement as we speak.  Therefore, I'm not going to have a paycheck for 60-90 days.  I need my paltry $2510 to get through the GAP.  I submitted my return on 02/12/2021.   TurboTax estimated my refund on 03/06/2021.  It's now 04/10/2021.  WTC?

I realize the different problems being confronted by the IRS.  I do.  But my return is a quick look, bang, direct deposit.  MY question is:

How do tax payers, such as myself, have any recourse besides this STUPID message, "Your refund is being processed", please wait till we get our act together???

Please give us something besides the paltry party line about what 1000's of us are dealing with, give us something we can DO, something we can DO besides grab our, uh, elbow.  Not be patient, but TRY this...

I'm sick of being patient!

BTW...This totally unacceptable delay in issuing refunds by the IRS is ruining Turbotax's reputation and has soured me personally on EVER using TurboTax's software ever again.  I will never be able to trust TurboTax again ever.  I've used TurboTax since  it was on a floppy discs and I promise, after this year, I'm done with TurboTax.

Unless TurboTax injects itself into this debacle, gets involved and helps solve this problem for, it looks likes, many of it's paying customers.  That's not s threat at all.  It's a promise.

Please keep in mind that the IRS issues refunds, not TurboTax. This means that we can't say for sure why you haven’t received your refund if it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed. You'll have to speak directly to IRS to find out more about the delay. You can call the IRS to check on your refund status.
