If the document number you are trying to enter is your Driver's license or ID number, make sure you entered the number exactly as it is on your document, including any spaces or special characters.  If you continue to experience issues, you can try the following and then enter the number again:

Go out of your program and go back in.
Clear your cache and cookies.
Try a different Web Browser.

Also if your state does not require you to enter your driver's license number, you can skip it and continue with your return.

IF for NY???  You enter ONLY the first three characters...not the whole nnumber.

FIRST...make sure you are using the right number
