Is she a co-owner?  Why aren't you filing a Joint  return?  Are you in a Community Property State?

And if you are filing MFS and she takes Itemized Deductions instead of the Standard Deduction then you must also itemize even if it is less than the Standard Deduction, even if you have 0 deductions.  But you can not both claim the same deductions or amounts.  You can split them up but not more than 100% of any.
