The IRS doesn't have a clue. TurboTax never receives your refund. If you have fees and/or an advance to be repaid, the refund is sent to a third-party bank. There, the refund is split between you and TurboTax. Your portion is then sent to the account on your return.
Contact support to find out the bank that processed the refund. You'll need to contact them to follow up. By the way, in the future, don't wait 8 or 9 months to follow up on a missing refund. Check the IRS website for its status. You should get it within 2 weeks of the website showing it was sent, if 3rd-party processing is necessary, otherwise sooner.
First, the IRS has told me over and over that the refund was deposited. They told me to contact the tax preparer (TurboTax) which I’ve tried several times. The automated system doesn’t help and I can’t get through to a human being!
The refund did NOT go into MY account, but rather done other strange account. That is counter to what my tax return said!! Only Intuit can correct this and help me and I’m not getting any help. I’m fed up with them. I’ll be filing my taxes with someone else this year.
@dihakz Did you request to have your TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund? If so -
If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.
For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/
