If you checked the box on your tax return that you can be claimed by someone else, you are not eligible for a stimulus payment regardless of how you answered all the questions. If you meet the requirements to be claimed, you are not eligible for the stimulus payment regardless of whether the person who could claim you does claim you or not.
so what is the purpose of the very next question on TurboTax which is
2) "will that person claim you on tax return'?
it was answered = NO
and i make too much money to be claimed as i mentioned.
and my parents were not able to add me because of that reason on the TurboTax software.
The "will that person claim you on tax return" question is used to determine who can get the American Opportunity education expense tax credit. It has nothing to do with dependency and who can or can't get the stimulus payment.
