Tax returns are not emailed to you or to the IRS.  You e-file it to the IRS.  (not the same thing as email).

What are you saying--that your 2017 return was never filed at all?  If that is the case, then you need to file it by printing, signing and mailing it to the IRS and also mail in your state return if you need to file a state return.  E-filing is closed for 2017 returns.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.
