Cannot E-file amended 2024 federal tax return

Why can't I e-file my amended 2024 Federal Tax return?

"The Intuit Electronic Filing Center is closed for the 2024 Personal Income Tax filing season. November 15, 2025 was the last day to file returns electronically."

The IRS says you  e-file amendments for up to 3 years assuming you filed the originals electronically (which I did via Turbo Tax).

yes IRS can accept prior year e-files but Turbotax does not support doing that.  If using Turbotax you will have to print and mail.

So the company that made $4.9 billion last year from e-filing taxes is the only company that doesn’t support e-filing amendments?

IRS only started supporting it a few years ago, probably Intuit decided it's not worth the cost or priority to support it, it will be low volume.  Amendments take a long time for IRS to process anyway.

Neither Turbotax Online nor HR Block online support prior year returns, you have to download the software.  FreeTaxUSA has a good setup for prior year filing.
