Amending returns 10-12 years old

I’m aware of 3 yr rule but can one file an amended return for say 2006-8 knowing any refund would not be forthcoming. (Filed single when “technically “ married)

Don't bother. If the IRS hasn't caught it by now, it's to late even for the IRS to take any action.
