How do I amend my 2020 return?

I filed my Fed and CA 2020 taxes on 5/14 and received acceptance confirmation on both within 12 hours.  Then, on 5/16, I realized there were values missing regarding stocks (shorted myself substantially because the options in the 2020 version are NOT as clear as previous years) and submitted amended Fed and CA returns on 5/17 (the adjusted due date for 2020) and both were allowed by TurboTax and accepted by the IRS and FTB.  I just received my tax returns for the original submission on 5/14.  When will I receive the difference from the supposedly accepted amended returns?  Or, was I mislead in thinking the amended returns actually went through?  The amendment process in TurboTax is not very clear and it does not appear there is any tracking(?).
