If the 2021 tax file is truly unretrievable (and therefore, unable to transfer to my 2022 tax return), could I redo my 2021 taxes using the Turbo Tax 2021 software and entering numbers line by line (using the paper copy that I have)? Then I can save that file and use it to transfer to my 2022 tax return (?).
I just don't want to start from scratch on my 2022 return.
Thank you for your help!

if you used online you can upload a new copy. if you used a windows PC unless you deleted the file and the hidden backup they're still there. the hidden backup would be in the users/user name/documents/TurboTax folder starting with a tilde ~. you can rename it and then when you open the desktop 2022 app, Turbotax may automatically find it or you can search for it. don't know if you did it on a MAC.
Yes, it was on a Mac laptop. Is it the same?
