Question about my E-filed Federal Amended Return

I recently e-filed an amended federal return (1040X) for the tax year 2020, and am in the process of filing an amended return with the state of CA. In the Federal Return instructions Turbotax provided me, it says that I should include a copy of [any form or schedule that changed] with my federal amended return. However, since I e-filed the federal amended return through Turbotax, the electronically filed return didn't include the 1099-R form that was changed. Do I need to send the changed 1099-R to the IRS? If so, how should I do it? I'm concerned about them being able to match up that 1 form with my amended return.    Thanks

Question about my E-filed Federal Amended Return

You can refer to the 1099-R by account number so that the IRS will be able to know which form you are referencing.

Part III of the 1040-X asks for an Explanation of Changes. You can explain your error in the return that you filed and let them know that you are amending to fix that error.

No, you don't need to send the 1099-R to the IRS.

The payer has submitted the same form to the IRS as it sent you, so the IRS has it on file.

Yes. That is true. But how does the IRS know which 1099-R was changed? I receive several of them.

Also, the reason I'm amending the return is that I accidentally put into Turbotax that the SEP/SIMPLE checkbox was checked. When, in fact, that box on the form was not checked by the sender. By my stating that this box WAS checked my return showed I owed money. When I changed the check box to be blank (as it should have been), the IRS owes me money. So the 1099-R itself actually did not change. I simply changed my input into the 1040 form to accurately reflect what was actually on the 1099-R. I'm concerned that this will make it impossible for the IRS to know what to look for
