No, unfortunately you won't be able to get the refund for a 2012 tax return. You had until April 15, 2016 to file a 2012 return that shows a tax refund, including extensions. If you file the 2012 return after that date you will not receive the refund (EIC). You can only file a tax return for a refund within three years from the original due date of the return, including extensions.
So, even if you file your 2012 return now, you will not be receiving a refund. However, if you were required to file 2012 and did not do that, it is a good idea to do it anyway.
